Feels like spring today

Pictures of my new house, waiting to move into, maybe by next weekend.   The back of the house was taken the when it snowed, and the front taken about a week later.

It was 65 today, supposed to be 71 tomorrow, then going back down to the fifties next week.  Very warm today and looking forward to the weather tomorrow.  Went to Lowe's today and bought 8 trees and 2 magnolias for the house.  Saw this picture of a garden in a newspaper and loved the idea of a circle of Japanese flowering cherries.  Bought 6 Kwanzan cherries, 1 Yoshino cherry, a white dogwood and a couple of magnolias.  Adding to the group of trees and plants I'm putting into my new garden and presently collecting on Mimi's and Mark's driveway.

Noelle is visiting and will be here tonight, leaving Monday.  Kids are excited to see her since it has been last September when she was out this way.  Planning a fun weekend in Amish country for her.

Picture of Hannah in the tie dye shirt my niece Crystal bought for the kids from a street vendor on Telegraph Ave when I was in CA last month. Haven't been able to capture all the kids yet in their shirts.

Picture of my old patio set on the deck after last snow storm.  Snow has all melted, but very cold today even though sun is out.

One of 2 quilt projects I have been working on since last September. This is from a quilt kit I  bought at the Ontario show a couple of years ago.  Girls of the World for Hannah.

2nd of the quilt projects in progress. Bought this in Iowa during our road trip last year.  Hand quilting both.

Working on staking out our garden on my lot and Mimi & Mark's lot.  Planted 9 fruit trees, more coming this March.  Also staked out the vegetable garden, using Elliott Coleman's book, "4 Season Harvest" as the guide.  Started out my heirloom tomatoes, brussel sprouts, and hot chili peppers today, both Hannah and Luke "helped".   Waiting for the eggplant seeds to arrive and will also be starting the cucumbers.  In CA I didn't have the space here and didn't really have frost, so this is new for me to have start seedings so early, will be interesting to see what kind of crop we will have.  Bought the cedar cold frame from Johnny's Seed after doing some research on cold frames last night.  Will try to have built other cold frames later, but this will be a start.  Will post pictures of the garden later, just too cold now to be out too long.
